About Astoria Podcast
When we support our local businesses our neighborhood flourishes. That’s why my mission with the Astoria Podcast is to build a lasting relationship between local businesses and members of the Astoria community. This relationship is built by sharing personal stories with our listeners so they can not only learn about your business but also learn who you are as a business owner. When this relationship is developed it strengthens customer loyalty. Studies show when people feel a personal connection to a business more than half of customers (57%) will increase their spending and 76% will buy from that business over a competitor. It’s hard to compete with the convenience of online shopping but something you’ll never find in an online shopping cart is that personal human-to-human connection. Astoria is home to over 95,000 people. As a business, developing a personal relationship with that many people can be difficult. However, through sharing your unique story you can make a lasting impression that will strengthen your connection to our community and increase your bottom line.
How I Capture Your Unique Story
First, I ask you to fill out a short questionnaire that will give me some information about you and your business. The more details you provide the better I can prepare to capture your story and share it with our community. After I receive your questionnaire, I will reach out and schedule a time to record an interview. After the interview, I will take a few photos of you and your business which I will use to showcase your story and your business on social media when the podcast episode is released.
About the Host, Brie Mittan
Like many in the community, my heart broke seeing so many businesses close during the pandemic, and I wanted to find a way to help. Thus, the idea of the Astoria Podcast was born. However, it took some time to get started. Despite my long career in documentary filmmaking and podcast production, I had to learn a lot about interviewing and producing a show, all while adjusting to becoming a mom. After my daughter was born, I gained a new sense of purpose. Growing up in the Midwest, I cherished the sense of belonging in a close-knit community, and I want my daughter to experience the same. That realization inspired me to get to know my neighbors better and share more of myself with all of you. Throughout the podcast, you'll meet many people from our community who contribute to its vibrancy. Each episode delves deeper into the person behind the business, where we laugh, joke, and sometimes discuss the challenges our business owners face every day. My hope is that each episode leaves you with that warm, close-knit community feeling. For more about me and behind-the-scenes insights into the show, visit the AP Blog, where I share personal stories, my neighborhood experiences, and podcast production tips I've picked up along the way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Does it cost to be a guest on the Astoria Podcast?
A. No. I do not accept payment of any kind in exchange for guest interviews. My goal is to foster the connection between local businesses and the Astoria community. I want all businesses, large and small, to have a chance to share their story regardless of their ability to pay. Because of this, I do not charge for interviews.
Q. Can I talk about my products and services in my interview?
A. Yes! Throughout the interview, we will discuss lots of things about you and your business. However, this does not guarantee that discussion of your products and services will be used in the final program that airs. Keep in mind that the goal of the interview is for the community to learn about who you are as a person and to build a lasting relationship with them.
