Astoria Cutlery

Episode 104: Interview with Jason, Owner of Astoria Cutlery

In every good relationship, there is someone who does the cooking and the other person who loads the sharp knives in the dishwasher. For those of you who don’t know, you’re not supposed to do that. Since I’m not the cook in our household I felt this interview with Jason, owner of Astoria Cutlery, should be done by my husband, Eric. After taking Jason’s knife sharpening class, Eric sat down to get to know our neighborhood cutler and how his unique service is made possible because of the Astoria community. Jason shares about the struggles of growing his business and what keeps him going when things get hard. They talk about how the pandemic changed them and discuss Jason’s “big dart energy.” I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.

I want to thank Jason for teaching Eric how to sharpen all the knives I’ve ruined over the years. You can find out more about his classes at AstoriaCutlery.com. Check out the behind-the-scenes photos that my husband Eric captured after taking Jason’s knife sharpening class. I can’t recommend this class enough, our knives are so sharp now. (Don’t tell Jason but I still put them in the dishwasher sometimes but now I sort of feel bad about it.)
